I live in Emigration Canyon and in the past it has been a ride more of convenience than choice. It is now one of my favorite rides in the area. The people who have done the construction work clearly know what they are doing and have created a great ride. Thanks to all concerned.

I think your plan is right on point; provide maintenance to the DH current trail to stave off erosion and add the new trail for UH bikers and hikers. We are all blessed to have such wonderful trail systems to both bike and hike. No wonder so many Texans, Californians, Floridians, and unfortunately even N Yorkers are moving here. We have built and supported so much great outdoor recreation in our area.,Keep up there great work, and thank you for all you do!!!

Originally we had planned to conduct the Rattlesnake project this year but about half our funding was suspended due to Covid 19. We are looking to the 2021 season to conduct this project.

The plan is to keep the existing trail as a downhill mountain biking trail and create a more bikeable and hiker friendly uphill trail, much as you have described. The existing trail will need some improvements to slow erosion but it will largely stay as is.

The current trail is definitely suffering from erosion, and the grade definitely exceeds normal recommendations. Thanks for being thorough and doing your homework (i.e. NEPA studies). Getting rid of the existing trail would be a serious loss for the Utah mountain bike community, as it is an iconic section of the Wasatch Crest Route and one of the few advanced options left in that canyon for mountain bikers.

The mountain bike community understands that erosion in the gully is a concern related to this plan, but I firmly believe there are options to mitigate erosion while keeping the existing trail open, and there are many trail users in the mountain bike community that would be willing to donate their time and money to assist in improving and maintaining this trail if it stays open.

Swichbacks are not fun, especially 15 of them from which i can see. Build the other for uphill/hikers, leave this one for dh.
